Welcome to The Green Room, a cruelty-free hair and beauty salon located in Blackburn.

We provide the very best in treatments for your hair and skin using beautiful plant based products that are certified cruelty-free. We are proud members of Sustainable Salons so at least 95% of our salon waste is recycled instead of sitting in landfill.

When you step into The Green Room you enter a friendly space where you can de-stress, relax and enjoy yourself while receiving exemplary treatments delivered by our highly skilled, creative team of hair and skin experts.

Pure by Hairjamm- an Australian company that provides beautiful natural cruelty-free home maintenance products. Their entire range is sulphate, paraben and gluten free as well as being 100% certified organic.

Beauty Products

Eminence Organic Skincare – beautiful hand made organic skincare from Hungary that delivers exceptional results. This is a company that takes its environmental responsibilities seriously – they plant a tree for every product sold, their packaging is recycled and printed with vegetable dye and they donate organic food to children’s hospitals around the world.

Inika Cosmetics – an Australian company that produces gorgeous cruelty-free, organic vegan makeup that is great news for your skin and the environment as well as our animal friends.

Our experienced beauty therapists are available for all of your facial and beauty needs. Specialising in facials, we also offer a full range of beauty services including massage, waxing, manicures and pedicures, lash lifts and lash and brow tinting.

Our team of hair stylists and beauty therapists participate in regular ongoing education so they can offer you the latest in treatments and home-care advice

Our Hair Experts

Di

Di has been a part of our team for many years and is in strong demand. She is proficient in all aspects of hairdressing and lists perming among her specialties. Di is available Tuesdays to Thursdays.

Chloe

Since completing her apprenticeship with us Chloe has blossomed into a popular hair stylist who excels at everything she does. While she is a great all-rounder, she particularly excels at balayage, foils and hair extensions. Chloe is available Tuesdays to Saturdays.

Stef

Stef has been hairdressing for more than 15 years and is experienced and highly skilled. Her specialty is creating brand new looks for clients who are after a change. Stef loves all aspects of colouring and also excels at hair extensions. Stef is available Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9.30 til 5.30 and Saturdays from 9am til 3pm.

Sally

Sally is now qualified in all aspects of hairdressing after completing her apprenticeship with us in 2021. With a flair for colour and natural artistic creativity, Sally is already a popular and much-requested team member. Sally works full time hours.

Sarah

Sarah graduated as a Beauty Therapist in 2020 and joins our beauty department with excellent skills and a keen desire to learn. Sarah lists facials and massage as two of her favourite services and is available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9am til 5.30pm.

Tamiela

Tamiela has a wealth of experience and knowledge after many years as a beauty therapist. A passionate skincare expert, Tamiela lists facials, lash lifts and waxing as her specialities. Tamiela is available Thursdays to Saturdays.

NEWS

Changes to our Cancellation Policy

The loss of income that we have experienced in the last couple of months from people either not showing up or ringing on the day to move their appointment has seriously impacted our ability to continue to recover from last years 20 week lockdown and the more recent 5 day lockdown in February.

Standard practice in the hair and beauty industry is for clients to pay a small deposit when they make their booking. This is a system we have managed to avoid until now.

When you make an appointment with us you will now be asked for a deposit as follows:

New Clients – 25% of the cost of their service

Occasional Clients – 25% of the cost of their service

Regular Clients – 15% of the cost of their service 

Clients who book online will be contacted so we can take your deposit over the phone.

Cancellations: If you need to cancel your appointment your deposit will be refunded if you give us 48 hours notice. Alternatively we’re happy to move your appointment to another time and apply your deposit to that visit.

Rescheduling: We’re very flexible with appointment changes when given 48 hours notice as this gives us enough time to fill the vacancy. If you reschedule with less than 48 hours notice your deposit will not be refunded.

Exceptions to the above: We encourage everyone to reschedule their appointments if they have any covid symptoms. If you are having a covid test, waiting for the results of a covid test or you have a cold or flu your deposit will be rolled over to your next appointment.

No-Shows: If you fail to attend your appointment for any reason without contacting us your deposit will not be refunded and you may be asked for a 50% deposit if you rebook with us, depending on the circumstances. 

We thank everyone for their ongoing support with regards to this new policy.

In May we’re focusing on the eye area.

Tamiela and Sarah will offer every client a complimentary analysis of the skin around the eyes and offer solutions and suggestions to any problems you may be having.

Come in and chat to our beauty experts about our beautiful range of Eminence Organics eyecare products – eye creams, eye exfoliants and eye masques. If it’s makeup that you’re after we have an extensive range of gorgeous Australian organic Inika products – mascaras, brow defining products, eye shadows and eyeliners.

COVID SAFETY RULES:

Due to ongoing hygiene and social distancing rules we request that all guests at the salon agree to the following conditions:

  • Please arrive for your appointment alone as we are still required to limit the number of people in the salon at any one time.
  • We are required to keep an up to date Attendance Register. If you have the Service Victoria app on your phone you will be able to scan the QR code on our front desk otherwise we will register your attendance on our hand-written list.
  • You will be required to apply hand sanitiser when you arrive and prior to leaving the salon at the end of your appointment. If you would like to wash your hands at any time please let us know and we will direct you to a hand basin.
  • You are not currently required to wear a mask during your appointment.
  • If you seem unwell at all we reserve the right to take your temperature. If the reading is high you will be asked to reschedule your appointment.
  • No magazines will be provided so please byo.
  • Services are strictly by appointment only.
  • Please do not attend for your appointment if you have any of the following symptoms no matter how mild or are you unwell in any other way – sore throat, runny nose, head cold, cough, sneezing, elevated temperature. 
  • We reserve the right to refuse entry to the salon to anyone who presents with any symptoms.
  • We will be taking payments by card or bank transfer only. NO CASH PLEASE.

We want you to relax and enjoy your time with us so it’s important that you know our cleaning schedule:

All surfaces are sprayed with disinfectant and Glen 20 after each use – your chair and table top in front  of the mirror, the basin and basin chair, every item that your stylist or therapist uses including scissors, hairdryers, brushes, combes, tweezers, tint brushes and everything else they touch. Our eftpos machine is wiped with methylated spirits after each use.

Throughout the day we also regularly disinfect and spray with Glen 20 every door handle including the exterior door handles, light switch, tap, and the toilet and toilet button. This is done roughly every 2 hours. 

At the end of the day every single surface is washed with hot soapy water and then sprayed with disinfectant and Glen 20 and left to dry overnight. This includes every chair and couch, every table top including our front desk, every bench and shelf and our flooring.

In our beauty rooms there is fresh disposable bedroll covering the towels for each client and the towels are washed and replaced after every appointment.

As members of Sustainable Salons we’ve been recycling more than 95% of our salon waste for the last 3 years. We love the fact that we’re not contributing to landfill with items like foil, plastic, chemicals and hair all being recycled in useful and imaginative ways. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment so you can fill out a Consultation Form and enjoy a relaxing cup of tea before your treatment.

Our gift vouchers are valid for 3 years however if the price of our services are increased during that time you will be required to pay the difference for the service.

Gift Vouchers are not redeemable for cash or products. They are for services only.

If you have a gift voucher and fail to attend your appointment you will forfeit the voucher.

If you cancel your appointment with less than 48 hours notice you will forfeit the voucher. If you are unexpectedly unable to attend it is advised that you send someone else in your place to enjoy the service so the voucher is not wasted.

If you arrive late for your appointment your service will be cut short so the client booked in after you is not inconvenienced however the voucher will still be redeemed for the original service booked. If time permits, the entire service will be provided.

We understand that sometimes life gets in the way of hair and beauty bookings. If you need to move or cancel your appointment please give us 48 hours notice so we can offer your timeslot to another guest. Obviously there are circumstances that can make 48 hours notice impossible to give so at those times please let us know as soon as you can.

No-Shows and Late Arrivals – If you fail to attend your scheduled appointment you may be asked for a deposit of 50% when rebooking, depending on the circumstances and the service booked. If you arrive late for your appointment we may need to cut your service short so the client booked in after you is not inconvenienced however you will still be charged for the original service booked. If time permits the entire service will be provided.

Deposits – We now require deposits for most services as follows: New Clients and Occasional Clients – 25% Regular Clients – 15%. Deposits will be rolled over to your next appointment if you give us 48 hours notice that you need to reschedule. No-Shows and cancellations/rescheduling with less than 48 hours notice will forfeit their deposit. Clients who book online will be contacted so we can take your deposit over the phone.
